Myocardial Infarction or Heart attack is caused by lack of blood flow to heart muscles that leads to the damage of the heart muscle. Also leads to an irregular heartbeat, heart failure and cardiac arrest by blocking the pathway of blood flow. Chest pain is the most common symptom of heart attack. other symptoms include Anxiety, Cough, Fainting, Light-headedness, dizziness, Nausea or vomiting, Palpitations (feeling like your heart is beating too fast or irregularly), Shortness of breath, Sweating, which may be very heavy .
Pulmonary Hypertension is caused due to the high blood pressure in arteries of lungs. Because of the narrowed blood vessels of lungs results in to blood flow difficulty and pressure in lungs. As pressure increases load on right ventricle, which may eventually lead to heart failure. Symptoms includes shortness of breath, chest pain, tiredness, fainting.
Heart failure also known as congestive heart failure. It occurs when sufficient blood is not supplied by heart, can also be caused by pulmonary hypertension (raised blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply your lungs). Symptoms of heart failure includes swelling of legs (edema), shortness of breath and tiredness.
ECG or EKG is usefull for the determination of an electrical activity of the heart over a period of time using electrodes placed on a patient's body. These electrodes detect the small electrical changes on the skin that arise from the heart muscle depolarizing during each heartbeat.
Abnormal condition of heart muscle is known as Cardiomyopathy which leads to irregular heart rate and sudden cardiac death. There are three types of cardiomyopathy: dilated, hypertrophic and restrictive cardiomyopathy. Symptoms include difficulty in breathing, chest pain, swelling of the legs, ankles and feet and fatigue etc.
Angina pectoris is the chest pain caused by the reduced flow of blood to heart muscle. Symptoms include chest pain, fatigue, dizziness, sweating & shortness of breath. This condition may leads to Heart Attack.
An infection of inner lining of heart valve is called as Endocarditis. Infection is caused by germs (bacteria, fungi) which enters into the bloodstream and settle within the heart, often on a valve. Symptoms include Flu-like symptoms- fever, chills, night sweats, and fatigue.
Atherosclerosis occurs due to thickening and stiffness of arteries because of deposition of fat, cholesterol and other lipid substances in artery walls. This leads to decreased blood flow that limits the supply of oxygen rich blood to different body parts. Risk factors are hypertension, diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure. Atherosclerosis may also leads to serious problems like stroke, Heart attack and death sometimes.
Cardiac Catheterization is used to diagnose and treat heart diseases. During cardiac catheterization a long thin tube is called a catheter is inserted in an artery or vein in your heart region, neck or arm and threaded through your blood vessels to your heart. Using this catheter doctors can then do diagnostic tests as part of a cardiac catheterization. Some heart disease treatments, done using cardiac catheterization such as coronary angioplasty.
Cardiac surgery is performed by surgeons of heart. It also includes the field of medicine involved in surgical treatment of heart diseases. Cardiac Surgery is applied which includes heart transplantation. The most common type of heart surgery for adults is coronary artery bypass grafting, in which a healthy artery or vein from the body is connected or grafted to a blocked coronary artery.
