AP-1, NF1-A1, RGPR-p117 and other of transcription factor are translocated from the cytoplasm to the nucleus that is mediated through cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (A kinase), Ca2+-calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CaM kinase), protein kinase C (C kinase), MAPK kinase, PI 3-kinase and other, which are activated by various peptide hormones and cytokines. Steroid hormones directly bind to the receptors in the cytoplasm and nucleus. These transcription factors enhance the promoter activity of the regucalcin gene in the nucleus. Regucalcin regulates cell metabolism involved in various hormonal effects.
