Clinical pharmacology

Journal of Pharmaceutical Technology & Drug Research covers special section Clinical pharmacology emphasizes advances in pharmacology including basic and clinical studies of therapeutic agents in prevention and control of diseases in humans. It includes areas in therapeutic trials, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, prescribing policies, pharmacoepidemiology and post-marketing evaluations.

Pharmacoepidemiology

Pharmacoepidemiology studies uses and effects of drugs in well defined populations, focuses the study of utilization and effects of drugs in large population of people. It provides and estimate in probability of adverse effects and beneficial effects in a population. It is a science bridging clinical pharmacology and epidemiology.

Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology

Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology is research area focusing on developing anti-infective agents and use of microorganisms in design and delivery of newer therapeutic drugs, including development of diagnostic agents for medical tests, and improving gene therapy for correcting medical symptoms of hereditary diseases.

New and Emerging Drugs

New and emerging drugs are newly formed drugs used for disease treatment and are very important in treatment of newly emerging fatal diseases.

Post-marketing evaluations

Post-marketing evaluation is practice of monitoring safety of a pharmaceutical drug after the release in market. The approaches to monitor safety of licensed drugs include spontaneous reporting databases, prescription event monitoring. Respective data is reviewed to highlight potential safety concerns in a process known as data mining.
