Using the Epac activator CPT in rat primary VSMCs, results from this study suggest
that Epac operates in highly contextual and regulated fashion to regulate cellular
migration. New findings support roles for PI3K, Rac, MAPK, PKC, and PKG in helping
to reduce migration by Epac. Preliminary observations also lend collaborative roles
for the alternate cAMP target PKA and for the focal adhesion elements VASP, PAX
and FAK, yet their exact roles in VSM migration control by Epac remain uncertain.
