MSCs isolated from BN-rat bone marrow were cultured as a monolayer on plastic culture plates. Both small, rapidly self-renewing MSCs and larger, more mature MSCs were observed. MSCs had a spindle-shape and fibroblast-like morphology. In later passages, a greater proportion of cells displayed a flattened, fibroblast-like morphology. Scale bar=200 μm.
