Epidemiology, Genetics And Genomics

Journal of Cancer Therapetics & Research Open access Journal covers special section Epidemiology Genetics and Genomics aim to attract papers in the field of epidemiology, genetics and genomics in cancer cells and cancer patients. Understanding the cancer genetics, gene expression and regulation in cancer cells, their heterogeneity will give new insights in diagnosis and treatment. The section intend to disseminate information and knowledge that may furnish novel applications such as personalized treatment with either DNA or protein kinase targeted drugs, combinations with modern radiotherapeutic approaches. The section also considers studies performing whole genome sequencing to recognize potential drug targets or limited for selected genes to identify patients responding to particular treatments more likely.

Oncogenes

Oncogenes are mutated proto-oncogenes that causes cancer which are different from normal genes. Oncogenes are constantly active and can be inherited and also caused by cancer causing agents like UV light, harmfull chemicals and even some viruses, Mutant forms of src Ras, myc genes act as oncogenes and causes different types of cancer pancreatic, lung, thyroid, bladder, breast and ovarian cancers.

Cancer Mutation

Cancer Mutation is a permanent change in nucleotide sequence of genome in an organism. There are two basic types of genetic mutations acquired and germ line. Acquired mutations are errors that occur in DNA during cell division caused by exposure to certain harmful chemicals and radiations. p53 gene mutations are acquired mutations, Germline mutations are also called hereditary mutations. BRCA1 or BRCA2 are Inherited germline mutations play an important role in breast cancer risk.
