Mesenchymal stem cells
Journal of Regenerative Medicine & Tissue Engineering Open access Journal covers special section Mesenchymal stem cells are stromal cells that are mutipotent which can differentiate into any cell types. This Special section highlights on every aspect of stem cell research like developing methodologies for isolating and culturing MSC'S, Tissue grafting, homing mechanisms, host immune response to implanted cells. It also includes the use of mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of disorders like cardiovascular diseases, bone and cartilage repair, spinal cord injury and autoimmune diseases.
Immunomodulation and clinical trials
MSCs also possess the ability to impart profound immunomodulatory effects, which remain largely unknown. Mesenchymal stem cells have been explored as a new clinical approach aimed at immune-mediated disease and provides their potential for clinical use and cell-based therapy for immune-mediated disorders, Drug Delivery for Immunomodulation.

Bone Mesenchymal stem cells
Bone marrow was the primary resource reported to contain Mesenchymal stem cells. These provide micro environmental assistance for hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and have the ability to differentiate into various mesodermal lineages. For MSC isolation and characterization several methods are used the common isolating technique include the ability of the MSCs to selectively adhere to plastic surfaces and characterized by immunocytochemical detection or fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).

Gene engineering
Genetic engineering is the development by which scientists transform the genome of an organism which includes stem cell therapy or gene therapy. These therapies incorporate Mesenchymal stem cells that have the ability to differentiate into various cell types. Gene therapy aims for treating Cardiovascular Disease, Neurological Disease, Bone formation, renal failure, regeneration and repair.
